Welcome to the Diocese of Miami and the Southeast (DOMSE), part of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. Updated Note, May 24, 2025 from Bishop NICHOLAS

Beloved clergy, faithful, and friends,

Christ is risen!

The surgeons may have attended to my physical well-being, but your messages have surely strengthened my spirit. From every corner of DOMSE—and beyond—the texts, calls, emails, and WhatsApp messages have arrived in numbers too many to count. Each one has felt like a thread in a great prayer rope that has wrapped me in God’s peace during these unexpected days.

I am profoundly grateful for all of the love, care, and prayers you have offered. I have tried to read each message and, as strength and schedule allow, I will try to respond to you personally. But if I am prevented, please know that your kindness has touched me deeply. I commend you to the Lord with a full (and healthier!) heart.

May the Risen Christ reward your charity a hundred fold, and may we continue to “encourage one another and build one another up” (1 Thess 5:11) as we walk the road to Ascension and Holy Pentecost together.

With love and gratitude in the Risen Lord,

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM BISHOP NICHOLAS - MAY 20, 2025

Beloved clergy and faithful of DOMSE,

Christ is risen!

I write to ask your prayers. Last week the Lord granted me an unscheduled appointment with some very skilled physicians, who performed a bit of “preventive maintenance” on my heart. On the morning of the procedure, I was anointed with Holy Unction, which was a great consolation.

Thanks be to God, this surgical procedure went smoothly, and I am told the road back to full strength should be measured in weeks, not months.

During this brief period of convalescence, I will remain spiritually present and in touch with diocesan life—simply at a lower speed for a little while. I will remain attuned to all the news of God’s work among His people in DOMSE, which will be welcome company on the road to my full recovery.

The Apostle exhorts us: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” (Gal 6:2) Your prayers now help to bear mine. Be assured that, once the stitches are out and the blessed nurses have released me from their watchful custody, I shall be back to sharing yours with renewed zeal—and, I trust, an even steadier heartbeat.

With gratitude in the Risen Lord,

+ Bishop NICHOLAS

Words From Sayedna Nicholas

From the May / June 2025 edition of “The Light”

The Gospel reading according to St. John (20:19:31) narrates us through the appearance of Jesus to the ten disciples in the upper room. Why just ten disciples? Judas Iscariot had betrayed Jesus and hung himself and Thomas was not present. He appeared to them, after He was crucified and died, in the flesh with the marks of the nails on His hands and feet……
